About the Record
Written by Nidal Eradi
This has to be one of the funniest production processes I’ve ever been part of.
Oli is easily one of the most creative people I’ve worked with. He doesn’t believe in boundaries — he just follows what feels right and does whatever the song needs. No overthinking. No control. Collaborating with him feels like learning how to navigate a wild sea together, because ideas never stop firing in every direction.
When Oli first brought this record in its raw form, we instantly knew it had something special. Funny lyrics, an infectious groove, and a melody that just stuck. We knew it was a hit before it even started taking shape.
From there, things got… unconventional. We sampled everything we could find around us. The kick drum? Oli hitting a pineapple cut in half with a sword. Yes — an actual sword. (Don’t ask.) Coffee machines and coffee glasses turned into hi-hats and cowbells. Pure chaos. Pure fun.
As usual, I added bass and guitars to ground the record, and everything locked in naturally. Three months later, the track dropped — and suddenly it was playing daily on Canadian radio for a solid stretch of time. We were all thrilled, though none of us were surprised.
Most of the time, the process tells you the story before the numbers ever do.
