About the Record

Written by Nidal Eradi

Lonely came from a long-time collaboration — and I really mean it. This track was made with the 4PM Collective, which I joined in the last quarter of 2025. At that point, the collective was represented by David (Dayside), Erik (Guffchild), Yanick (Popesilk), and me.

I first met David back in early 2021 through a mutual artist friend, Bojan (ELMNT) — an absolute legend in the scene — during a casual studio session. It was one of those “let’s all get in the studio and see what happens” kind of sessions. His cousin Erik was there too. I was hyped to be part of it because Bojan had shown me some mind-blowing music they had produced.

We arrived, and it was already interesting. David owns a tattoo shop called Velours — a prominent local brand that looked fantastic. But in the back of the shop was a music studio where all the magic happened. Nothing extravagant, but it had everything you needed to make proper records: soundproofing, professional mics and speakers, the whole nine yards. I was already impressed and couldn’t wait to hear what they were cooking — and what we were going to cook.

Guess what? All I really remember from that session is how much fun it was. We made something groovy, but life happened, and the track was never finished. Years went by, David and I stayed in contact, meeting here and there in sessions or randomly. His energy was always great and inviting, but no records were finished together… funny, huh?

Then one day in June 2025, I bumped into him while he and his girlfriend were biking and grabbing bubble tea — which I happen to love. We started talking about music, and at that point, I was ready to explore new horizons. Somehow, he suggested I swing by the studio later that day to meet Erik and Yan about potentially joining the 4PM Collective. I did.

By 6 PM, I was at Velours. David had thoughtfully brought me some bubble tea, which was such a small but awesome gesture. Conversation with Yanick and Erik was smooth, and we all decided to give it a try. I had a guitar riff that I’d been sleeping on for five months, so I plugged in, started jamming, and that’s how Lonely was born.

Yan brought his immaculate sense of melody, Erik added some nasty groove ideas, and David, along with Mosez Jones — an amazing Montreal artist — contributed vocals. The process was smooth, fun, and collaborative. The track ended up sounding sad and groovy at the same time — honestly, I can’t even tell you what genre it belongs to. All we knew was that it felt great, and I’m proud to be part of this team and make music with these guys. Truly happy with what we made together, and this is just the beginning.
